The Daly Show – lmfao!
Make sure you’re where you won’t be embarrassed when you start laughing so loud
one year later
Last Thursday I put on some nice clothes, got into my car and drove myself to an Open Mic I’d heard of at Pleasant Valley Brewing. It felt like it was time to just put myself out there, stir things up. I didn’t let the fact that I had no accompaniment stop me or that it was just me, a lone black woman, in a small New England town bar deter me.
Glad to report that much fun was had. Everyone was amazingly welcoming and I had a great time. Heading back there this Thursday!
Ah…the glory…
Usually I try to post something for your ears but this piece of wonder is for your eyes and heart..
My First Review!
I just received the most wonderful review from Dennis Molesky of the Mole Hill Theater where I recently performed. The venue was great, the patrons were the best and the owners were wonderful!
A co-worker had heard good things about my singing from one of the owners, so I thought I’d ask for a blurb to use in my ‘soon-to-exist’ press kit.
Janine Hamilton has a tremendous voice that can blow you away with power and yet also tear you up with it’s subtlety and nuance. You’ll want to hear her sing, summertime or anytime.

Needless to say, I’m thrilled! Thanks Dennis!
time doing it’s flying thing
I actually have no idea how almost a month has gone by since I last posted. It feels like I’m standing still in the middle of a race track and the cars are whizzing by so fast that I can’t get out of the way! OK, that metaphor kinda ran away with me, but hey, I’m typing here ;p
Race tracks…race cars…race drivers…yes, that’s how my mind got to asking if there are any black woman race car drivers. Happily, there are! Here’s one of ’em – Nicole Lyons.
Ah, digression. Back to biz – I’m having some difficulty making the time to practice with a musician. Maybe the solution is to schedule a part of the week that’s just for working on my music. Actually, that sounds like a great idea! Will let you know how it works out.
it went well!
I’m talking about the show at the Mole Hill Theater. The owners Dennis and Jackie were amazing as were all the people who came and danced the night away! It was a party in Alstead, NH, I kid you not.
I hoped to have a clip to post by now but that’ll have to wait for a bit. In the meantime, let me just thank the Jacksonville Blues Band and especially Jason Koerber for inviting me to sing with them. It was an amazing amount of fun!

“The Jacksonville Blues Band would like to invite you to a very special event. We are playing a really cool venue on Saturday October 16th called the Mole Hill Theatre. This theatre is a converted machine shop that has a great vibe and plenty of room for dancing! This event is BYOB and will include a potluck appetizer buffet so bring something to share if you like. The band will start at 8:00 PM. The Jacksonville Blues Band has been playing locally and throughout New England for over 20 years. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Greg Burnell, this rock solid band is supported by saxophonist Jason Koerber, bassist Kirk Sanger & drummer Erik Dormody.”
